Poetry – An Ode to my mother

Mother I love you

Thank you for all you do

To show me you love me

Kissing my bruised knee

Making my favourite stew

Telling me old stories as if they’re new

Always ensuring my happiness

While ignoring your own sadness

Feeding  me and leaving  yourself hungry

I am grateful for your generosity,

Mother I love you

Thanks for all you do

To show me you love me

Totally selflessly

You lovingly wrapped me in your arms

Made me feel safe from all harms

You lulled  me to sleep to the sound of your heartbeat

And the soft tapping of your feet

Mother no other name is as sweet

Mother I love you

Thanks for all you do

To show me you love me

And all my little idiosyncrasies

You always see my beauty

Even when I feel so ugly

When I am feeling down

You’re always there when I look around

Mom, you keep me solid on the ground
